WHO”S THAT GIRL?

Tinderbox was founded by Whitney Bishop, whose visual language has been built through collision: American and European, high and low, old and new, familiar and strange.

A lifelong Francophile, her visual lexicon began forming in the pre-digital culture of books, television, music, film, fashion, and magazines. At twenty, she began an eight-year career at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, where artists, exhibitions, and ideas became part of her daily life. A decade spent studying and living in Italy deepened that vocabulary further, as did the experience of being a stranger—learning to look closely at a place from both inside and outside it. Literature, travel, historic places, and hospitality have continued to shape the way she sees.

Tinderbox grew from that accumulation: a practice suspicious of fixed categories and interested in what happens when their boundaries blur, topple, or disappear altogether.
